4th St: Chess Club

Learn chess with Silver Knights Chess Academy, formerly Magnus Carlsen’s Academy! We’ve taught 100,000 children to play including state & national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn a new skill and have FUN. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games. Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies.

Program Goals and Objectives:

Students will become familiar with the great game of chess and learn all of the processes. Class adjusts to skill needs; students who are new to the game will learn how all pieces move and the basics of game strategy; students who are familiar with chess will go deeper into strategies and tips to improve their game through prophylaxis, tactical acumen, and superceding concepts seen through the study of model games, as well as targeted exercises.
